PulStar™ Adjusting System

The PulStar™ Spinal Analysis/Adjusting System

Advances in medical technology aren’t just limited to conventional medical treatments, chiropractic care is also benefiting from newly developed, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools. Chiropractors help millions of Canadians each year. North Bay Chiropractic & Laser Centre incorporates the PulStar™ Spinal Analysis System which is a technology developed by a company with more than 20 years experience in the research and development of chiropractic tools & state-of-the-art equipment! The PulStar™ Spinal Analysis System is a revolutionary way for chiropractors to pinpoint the areas of the spine that are affected in a patient. The PulStar™ Spinal Analysis System is an innovative spinal function test for the diagnosis of back pain.

What is PulStar™ Spinal Analysis/Adjusting System?

The PulStar™ is a computerized device that allows chiropractors to perform an assessment of the spinal segments of the patient on each and every visit. The instrument imparts slight mechanical impulses along the patient’s entire spine. It then records the resistance given back by the spine to those impulses. The sensor in the instrument measures this resistance and sends it to the computer for interpretation. With this information the doctor can then use the instrument to adjust those segments which are shown to be misaligned.

On the computer screen, a graphical display presents the precise data from the device in an easy-to-read graph. Dr. Paul Kennedy uses this vital information to help determine the most important area(s) that need a chiropractic adjustment.

North Bay Chiropractic & Laser Centre uses the PulStar™ Spinal Analysis System with our patients. This state of the art technology helps us evaluate and treat with utmost precision.  With PulStar™ Spinal Analysis technology, we are able to map your spine to analyze the stiffness of each joint. On the computer screen, you will be able to see your progress after each visit. This gives an immediate visual impact of the how your spine looks since the last time you visited our Centre. We use the information we get from that analysis, along with other information, such as case history, chiropractic examination and X-ray findings to locate where the chiropractic adjustment is essential.

Dr. Kennedy uses the PulStar™ to direct a gentle impulse to the patient’s spine. It records the resistance given back to that force, then displays a graphic representation on the computer screen.

Red and yellow indicate problem areas.

Using impulse therapy, the doctor applies precise pressure in precise areas – no cracking and popping.

Patients often feel greatly reduced pain in three or four visits.

How does it help?

There are multiple causes of back pain, including irritated or damaged nerves, strained muscles, injured bones or ligaments or damaged spinal discs! But until now, chiropractors only had their expert knowledge and their patient’s symptoms to rely on in order to pinpoint the exact location of the problem. With the help of the PulStar™ Spinal Analysis technology, we are able to isolate problem areas in a patient’s spine faster and more accurately.

Peer reviewed research shows that common musculoskeletal complaints like neck pain, back pain, and lower back pain respond very well to impulse treatment. A recent study done on the treatment of spinal subluxations by multiple impulse therapy with Pulstar™ indicated that 50% of patients treated for neck pain felt a 100% reduction in pain in four visits or less. Another study involving patients with one of the most common spinal ailments, lower back pain, found that half of the patients treated also experienced a 100% reduction in pain in four visits or less.
